“You think that a wall as solid as the earth separates civilization from barbarism.
I tell you the division is a thread, a sheet of glass. A touch here, a push there, and you bring back the reign of Saturn.”
  ~ John Buchan

the DIVISION theater company's mission is to engage the community in questions of ethics, morality, and the demands of civilization. By exploring these issues in a theatrical setting, we seek to stimulate dialogue, self reflection,   accountability,  and a greater apprehension of each individual's role in shaping the culture and the world we live in.

what the critics are saying about the DIVISION...

"Attending Division Theater Company’s
inaugural production is a trip to the
dark side...fulfilling Division’s lofty
mission to evoke questions of ethics
and morality in today’s civilization"
~ Centerstage Chicago ~

"It bears early indications of
the poet's technical skill and
fierce intellect. This debut
production by the Division throws
off similar loomings. The melodrama
is handled with attention and wit
...and the show overall is a feast
of technical competence"
~ the Chicago Reader ~

"An impressive and handsome
effort which bodes well for
the future of this new troupe"
~ Chicago Stage Style ~

What's most impressive about the cast
is its well disciplined grasp of easily
caricatured roles... well-crafted and
carefully grounded performances.
How often do we see a play rendered
smarter than its creator intended?""
~ Windy City Times ~

"In its debut effort, newly formed troupe
the Division easily matches the script
in vigor and panache. The pace is brisk,
the sword fights are exciting, and the
performances are lively and engaging"
 ~ Time Out Chicago ~

"Arresting...Voluptuous...
the Division announces its arrival
with a swash, a buckle, and
a splash of gothic nihilism "
~ The Chicago Tribune ~
